Kiara Advani on Her Topless ‘Leaf Picture’ Controversy: Had to ‘Switch Off’ DMs Due to ‘Suggestive Messages’

Actor Kiara Advani was heavily trolled for posing topless in Dabboo Ratnani‘s yearly calendar. Weeks after her photo went viral, the actor now spoke how she enjoyed the memes made on her but didn’t want all the suggestive messages that she received on social media. Kiara talked to Tweak India recently and revealed that she turned off her DM notifications because she started getting a lot of ‘suggestive messages’. She said, “I have switched off some of my DM notifications because I did get a lot of those suggestive ones. Especially after the leaf picture went up. I was like okay we can’t do this right now.”

As part of popular photographer Dabboo Ratnani’s ever-so-famous calendar, Kiara posed with just a giant leaf covering her torso. Apart from Kiara, the photographer also got trolled on plagiarism claims that eventually settled down after he issued an official statement and maintained that the contentious picture was inspired by his own previous work. However, seems like things are not getting over for Kiara anytime soon.

The Kabir Singh star mentioned that she enjoys memes made on her and considers it as a form of flattery. Kiara said she also posted a few memes on social media because she found them really interesting. She added that even though the entire issue didn’t bother her much, she had to draw a line for other people to reach out to her with negativity and that’s the reason she switched off the option of direct messaging. Earlier, while commenting on the memes that went viral on social media after the release of her ‘leaf picture’, Kiara told IANS, “It is so funny and so flattering. I had even posted some of the memes that went viral. They were really funny. It’s okay. I think it’s just a form of flattery.”

On the work front, the actor is busy with multiple projects in her kitty. She is receiving appreciation for her performance in Netflix short film Guilty. Kiara was also seen alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar and Diljit Dosanjh in Dharma Productions’ Good Newwz last year. The actor is shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 with Kartik Aaryan and she has already finished her work on Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb.
