Rhea Chakraborty to Sandip Ssingh: Key Names Under Investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case

Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic demise has left the country shaken. The 34 year-old actor was found hanging in his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020.

Apart from Rhea Chakraborty, her father Indrajit, mother Sandhya and brother Showik Chakraborty were also accused. Along with that, Samuel Miranda and mutual friend Shruti Modi were also named.

After the Central Bureau of Intelligence and Enforcement Directorate took over the case, many other names such as roommate Sidharth Pithani, family friend Sandip Ssingh and hotelier Gaurav Aarya, have come up.

Rhea Chakraborty: She is an actress known for films like Jalebi and Sonali Cable. She started her career as an MTV VJ and made her Bollywood debut with Mere Dad Ki Maruti. Rhea and Sushant were reportedly in a relationship from mid-2019 and were together till June 8, mere days before his death. Sushant’s father has also said that Rs 15 crore were allegedly withdrawn from the late actor’s bank account by Rhea. This enabled the Enforcement Directorate to take over the case. As of August 30, Rhea has been summoned for questioning by CBI for the third consecutive day.

Showik Chakraborty: He is Rhea’s younger brother, who according to the actress, shared a strong bond with Sushant. He was also investigated in the money laundering angle by the Enforcement Directorate as Sushant’s name appeared in a company set up by Showik. He was interviewed twice by the ED for long periods of time. Along with Rhea and Showik, parents Sandhya and Indrajit Chakraborty have also been questioned by the authorities in their involvement in the case.

Samuel Miranda: Not to be confused by Sushant’s friend Samuel Haokip, Samuel Miranda is the house manager of late Sushant Singh Rajput. According to the Patna FIR filed by KK Singh, Samuel is a close aid of Rhea Chakraborty. He was also summoned and grilled by the Enforcement Directorate for his alleged involvement in displacement of Rs 15 crore. He has recently also been on the news for discussing about drugs with Rhea, as mentioned in her WhatsApp conversations.

Shruti Modi: She is reportedly a former manager of Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty. While it is not clear, she also appears to be the former business manager of Sushant. She was also one of the accused mentioned in the FIR lodged by the late actor’s father. She was summoned and questioned by the Enforcement Directorate under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Siddharth Pithani: An IT Professional, he was Sushant’s friend and lived in his flat for more than a year. He was present at the actor’s residence on June 14, when he died. He had earlier recorded his statement with the Mumbai Police as part of its accidental death report (ADR). Siddharth was summoned by the Enforcement directorate for questioning under the PMLA. Siddharth Pithani was also one of the first people to be questioned by the special investigation team of the CBI.

Sandip Ssingh: As per media reports, he is a film producer and an old family friend of Sushant Singh Rajput. While he has not been formally accused or mentioned in any complaint, many including the family’s lawyer Vikas Singh, has raised questions about Sandip’s involvement.

According to reports, Sandip took charge of the situation on June 14 and made funeral arrangements. He had also called investigating officers. However, it was also reported that Sushant and Sandip were not in touch for the past year. On Saturday, August 29, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that several complaints about Sandip and his alleged involvement with drugs will be sent to CBI for investigation.
