‘Succession’ Cast Reveals Favorite One-Liners and Stories From Season 2

When “Succession” concluded its second season in October, the HBO series left the Roy family in a more intense state of disarray than ever before, capping off a thrilling and viciously funny season of backstabbing and power plays.

Recently, Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Alan Ruck, Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun and J. Smith-Cameron all participated in a conversation in the Variety Streaming Room to reflect on Season 2’s highlights.

Though the four Roy children are frequently pitted against one another, Strong acknowledged the sincere sibling dynamic he and Snook, Culkin and Ruck had achieved while working together. “I know that I’ve trusted these guys from the beginning,” Strong said. “There’s a sense of [following] each others lead within a scene… It’s not something you need to prescribe or rehearse. You just sort of go for it with each other and, in a way, the show lives dangerously because you can find the limits with each other.”

Meanwhile, Cox, who plays the family patriarch, Logan Roy, relished the opportunity to hold information over the Roy children once again, revealing that he was confidentially told the events of the show’s next season.

“I also now know what’s going to be happening in Season 3… I was let in on that,” Cox said. “It’s jolly exciting. That’s all I can say. It’s very, very surprising. But I can’t tell you!”

Braun, who plays Logan’s simple great-nephew Cousin Greg, reflected on the enrichment that his character finds in participating in the Roy family’s power games, effectively summing up the appeal of the show.

“It’s exciting to be in this family. Once you get a taste, you just want to stay in,” Braun said. “For the first time in Greg’s life, he feels like a value.”
