The Burning Train Remake: Juno Chopra And Jackky Bhagnani Team up to Recreate 1980’s Big Flop

Producers Jackky Bhagnani and Juno Chopra have joined hands to bring the remake of yet another classic Hindi film from the 80s. The makers have confirmed that they are remaking 1980’s big flop The Burning Train that featured a stellar star-cast lead by Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Hema Malini, Neetu Singh and Parveen Babi. The film was directed by Juno’s father, late Ravi Chopra, who travelled to Los Angeles to get the VFX work done on the film. The new film is largely based on the original story with only a few changes made to suit the taste of the contemporary audience.

In a report published by Mumbai Mirror, it is mentioned that both Juno and Jackky are excited to revive a film which was quite close to the former’s father. Both the producers confirmed that they are going to remake the film on a large scale and have big stars spearheading it. The story of the film is centred around a train, the way it was in the original. The 1980 film was based on a newly launched superfast express that ran between Delhi to Mumbai. However, the train catches fire on its inaugural run due to a bomb-blast and that turns the lives of its passengers upside down. Talking about the remake, Jackky said, “I grew up watching the film. I’m sure many of us did. It’s classic Bollywood and I’m thrilled to be working with my friend Juno to recreate the magic that Ravi Chopra sir had 40 years ago. It has its heart at the right place and we are all set to give it our all.”

For Juno, it’s an emotional project. While talking about the remake, he told the daily that he has fond memories of watching The Burning Train with his father and he can recall how he went beyond his limits to make it big. Juno said his father travelling to LA for the post-production was ‘ahead of its time’ for a film being made in the ’80s. The hunt for the director is on after which the cast will be finalised.

Meanwhile, while Juno just backed another remake – Pati Patni Aur Woh, Jackky is busy with the remake of Coolie No. 1.
