Drake To Produce The 48 Laws Of Power For Quibi

Rapper and Producer Drake is set to produce a series on the popular non-fiction book The 48 Laws of Power through a partnership with short-form streaming platform Quibi started by former Disney chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg.

The service, which is currently scheduled to launch on April 6, greenlit the series based on Robert Greene’s book of the same name. As well as being an executive producer on the show the Canadian artist will also direct an episode.

Each episode of the show will be self-contained and focus on a different law, with the series expected to map out the elements of gaining and maintaining power.

Back-to-back

Producing under the moniker Dreamcrew, Drake and his production partner Adel ‘Future’ Nur have had a solid run of late with a current track record consisting of Netflix-hit Topboy and HBO’s Euphoria.

Nur stated that the series would allow for “a wide range of dynamic storytelling”, with the short form platform well situated to allow for viewers to digest the content comparably to how readers assimilate the chapters in the book.

Words from the author

Greene said on the recent developments, “I have always thought that The 48 Laws of Power would be a perfect fit for a series, bringing to life the timeless Machiavellian game of power as portrayed in the book. But it was not until Drake and Future with Anonymous Content approached me with their unique cinematic approach to the laws that I knew I could join forces with them and go all in for a filmed interpretation of my work.”

The platform will charge users $5 monthly for an ad-supported version and $8 monthly for the service without advertisements.
