AEW Dynamite featured the first show in front of a limited-capacity, socially distanced crowd at Daily’s Place.

Fans were treated to commentary by Chris Jericho and a fantastic contract signing between MJF and Jon Moxley.

AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT were both down last week as Dynamite garnered 755,000 viewers for its Saturday broadcast compared to 853,000 for WWE NXT at its normal time slot.

AEW Dynamite Results: Wednesday, August 27, 2020

Young Bucks def. Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall

There was a limited attendance at 10% – 15% capacity, but based on fans singing along to Judas, it sounded way louder than that.

Chris Jericho on Cody’s injury—”He’s going to be out for an indefinite amount of time? I like that.”

This is the most AEW has let QT Marshall do in the ring in months.

This match seemed to get over “BTE Trigger” as the name of The Bucks’ Golden Trigger.

Young Bucks vs. Best Friends

This was a marathon of a tag team match, but when it got good it was excelent.

Hangman Adam Page may or may not have turned heel by costing The Young Bucks this match as The Young Bucks continue to be the kings of suffering a tag team upset.

FTR def. Best Friends

Tully Blanchard and FTR now have matching bombers.

The finish of this match came as the announcers were casually plugging an MJF and Jon Moxley contract signing for later.

FTR will likely go on to beat Hangman Page and Kenny Omega—who will likely be screwed by The Young Bucks. This will set up not only a rematch of the greatest tag team match of all time between Young Bucks-Omega and Page, a Young Bucks-FTR showdown is on the horizon as well. This is all setting up perfectly.

Lance Archer vs. Sean Maluta

Sean Maluta wanted to get this squash match over with so bad he attacked Lance Archer before his ring announcement.

Jim Ross described Jake “The Snake” Roberts as “almost orgasmic” during this match, which based on his previous promo about getting aroused when Lance Archer dishes out pain, meant Lance Archer was doing well.

Ricky Starks was brilliant in this segment as he literally came out of his shoes while bumping for Darby Allin.

Darby Allin performed a death-defying base jump from a bridge that has to be seen to be believed.

MJF and Jon Moxley Contract Signing

Both Moxley and MJF shined on the mic tonight. They went tit for tat and it was a marvel to watch.

This was a fantastic segment. AEW set this segment up to make you think Moxley was going to get outsmarted by some last-minute stipulation as Moxley mentioned he doesn’t know any lawyers. But the babyface Moxley outsmarted the heel just as I was waiting for the opposite after years of watching how WWE books its babyfaces.

AEW is getting over Mark the lawyer as a heel almost as effectively as its gotten over a young MJF.

Lucha Bros, The Butcher and The Blade def. Sonny Kiss, Joey Janela, Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr.

Eddie Kingston has added so much life to four talented workers who needed it in AEW.

This was yet another match that featured a post-match promo about the Casino Battle Royale, thereby giving it more significance.
