Asia Contents Award Winners Include Kim Hye-Soo And And Kim Hae-Ae

The Busan International Film Festival’s Asian Contents and Film Market has announced the winners of the Second Asia Contents Awards online. The awards recognize outstanding TV and OTT dramas across Asia and quite a few of the winners this year were Korean artists and projects.

Director Mo Wan-il won the Best Creative award for The World of the Marrried, which adapted the British series, Doctor Foster. He shared the award with China’s Ying Dai for The Bad Kids. 

The Korean drama When The Camellia Blooms, starring Gong Hyo-jin and Kang Ha-Neul, won Best Asian Drama, sharing the award with Singapore’s Last Madame.  

Kim Hae-ae won a Best Actress award for her starring role in The World of the Married, sharing the award with Haru Kuroki for Nagi’s Long Vacation. Kim plays a doctor whose seemingly perfect life falls apart when she finds out her perfect marriage is a sham.

Ju Ji-hoon won the Best Actor award for Kingdom, Season 2, sharing the award with Joseph Chang for Taiwan’s The Victim’s Game. Ju played a Joseon Era prince tasked with ridding his kingdom of zombies.

Kim Eun-hee won the Best Writer award for Kingdom Season 2. Kim is a screenwriter previously best known for her work on the drama Signal.

The Best Newcomer Actress award went to Jeon Mi-do for her role in Hospital Playlist. She shared the award with Thailand’s Plearnpichaya Komalarajun for One Year.

The Best Newcomer Actor Award went to China’s Zi-shan Rong for Bad Kids and Thailand’s Paris Intarakomalyasut for In Family We Trust.

The Technical Achievement Award went to Korea’s Madman Post for the visual effects in Kingdom, Season Two.

Actress Kim Hye-soo won an Excellence Award for her role as an unconventional lawyer in the legal drama Hyena. 

The 2020 Asian Contents and Film Market was held entirely online, due to COVID-19 concerns.
