Behind BTS, Michael Jackson And Prince, Kenny Rogers Lands The Fourth-Most Hits On The Sales Chart At Once

A little over a week ago, beloved country singer-songwriter and performer Kenny Rogers passed away at the age of 81, leaving behind quite the legacy of hit singles and successful albums. In the days since the tragic news spread, fans of the musician have been listening to the music he created during his lifetime, and many of them have taken to digital download stores to purchase his biggest hits, propelling them onto a number of Billboard’s sales-focused charts.

This week, Rogers sends 12 tracks onto the Digital Song Sales ranking, which only looks at purchases. That kind of domination is rarely seen, and by owning at least a dozen spaces at one time, the country favorite joins a very small group of some of the biggest acts who have ever made it to the tally.

Rogers’ 12 simultaneous hits on the Digital Song Sales now stands as the fourth-greatest in the chart’s history, and ahead of him are only giants.

Prince holds the record for the most simultaneously-charting songs at once, as he has once placed, at most, 21 tunes onto the tally. Korean septet BTS recently occupied 18 of the 50 spots on the ranking in one frame, while Michael Jackson managed 17 one time. Sadly, Prince, Jackson and now Rogers only hit these new highs after they passed away, as fans rushed in massive numbers to grab copies of the songs they loved for so long.

Amazingly, all 12 of Rogers’ current hits on the Digital Song Sales chart are debuts, meaning they have never placed on the tally before. That might be a bit surprising, given the fact that they are all decades old, but the ranking wasn’t established until long after those cuts came and went on the charts.

11 of Rogers’ dozen bestsellers land somewhere inside the top 40, meaning they are at least minor hits. The country star brings several of his duet partners with him to the chart this week, and names like Dolly Parton, Kim Carnes and Sheena Easton are all present on the tally this time around.
