Borat Humorously Defends Rudy Giuliani Amid Allegations Of Impropriety

Ahead of Friday’s release of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Sacha Baron Cohen’s creation Borat has taken to Twitter to defend Rudy Giuliani over claims of impropriety.

The former New York mayor and President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer has this week been embroiled in controversy over a scene from the new film. Giuliani, who was unsuspectingly targeted by Baron Cohen for an interview in Borat 2, is allegedly seen in a compromising position—appearing to put his hands down his pants in a scene featuring an actress playing Borat’s teenage daughter.

Giuliani has denied any wrongdoing, and now Borat himself has come out to defend Giuliani.

“I here to defend America’s mayor, Rudolph Giuliani,” said Borat in an “official statement” posted to his Twitter account Thursday night.

“What was an innocent, sexy-time encounter between an innocent man and my 15-year-old daughter have been turned into something disgusting by fake news media,” said Borat.

“I warn you, anyone else try this and Rudolph will not hesitate to reach into his legal briefs and whip out his subpoenas.”

On Wednesday, as reports of the Giuliani scene made headlines, Trump’s personal attorney denied he had acted improperly.

“The Borat video is a complete fabrication. I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment.

“At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate. If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar.”

Whatever the case may be, the controversy surrounding Giuliani’s involvement has been a huge publicity boost for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm this week.

Giuliani was interviewed by Baron Cohen’s Borat for the mockumentary film in July.

At the time, Giuliani told the New York Post: “This guy comes running in, wearing a crazy, what I would say was a pink transgender outfit. It was a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top, it looked absurd. He had the beard, bare legs, and wasn’t what I would call distractingly attractive.”

“I only later realised it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen. I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me.”

The sequel to 2006’s Borat begins streaming globally on Amazon Prime Video on Friday.
