BTS’s ‘Love Yourself: Answer’ Is Now The Second Korean Album To Spend 100 Weeks On The World Chart

As their latest chart-topper Map of the Soul: 7 holds at No. 1 and their most recent release Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~ dips to No. 4, another BTS full-length present inside the top five on this week’s Billboard World Albums chart reaches a very special milestone by holding on and finding space on the ranking once more.

BTS’s Love Yourself: Answer rises one rung, lifting to No. 2 on the newly-published World Albums list, and it does so in a very important period for the title. The project has now spent 100 weeks on the ranking, which is a feat very, very few releases can hope to approach, and so far only one other Korean-language effort has done so before.

The same band’s Love Yourself: Tear became the first Korean title to reach 100 weeks on the World Albums chart just two frames ago. Now, they claim two full-lengths that have racked up triple-digit weeks on the tally, while no other group or soloist from their home country has managed even one.

Since it was first released back almost two years ago, Love Yourself: Answer has gone on to become perhaps BTS’s most successful release, and it regularly lands inside the top 10 on the World Albums chart and on several other Billboard rankings, such as the Billboard 200 and the Top Album Sales list. This frame, it sits on those charts at Nos. 159 and 33, respectively.

The set, which served as something of a compilation of songs released throughout the Love Yourself era (which produced three full-lengths), spun off the hit single “Idol” with Nicki Minaj,” which peaked at No. 11 on the Hot 100.

Love Yourself: Answer stands as BTS’s only platinum album in the U.S., meaning it has shipped at least one million equivalent units. It earned that plaque earlier in 2020.
