Cardi B And Megan Thee Stallion Both Earn Their First No. 1 Hit In The U.K. With ‘WAP’

Four weeks into its time on the U.K. singles chart, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” has finally risen all the way to the top spot, earning both rappers their first No. 1 hit in the country.

The track debuted at No. 4 back in mid-August and it quickly rose to No. 2 on the tally, where it held for a pair of frames. Now, it’s reached the summit, pushing Joel Corry and MNEK’s “Head & Heart” off of the throne, where it ruled for five consecutive turns.

The tune, which is expected to serve as the latest single from Cardi B’s forthcoming sophomore full-length (which doesn’t have a release date yet), is the fifth top 10 in the country for the powerhouse rapper. Her collaborator Megan Thee Stallion has now reached the highest tier on the chart twice, as she scored her first appearance inside the region just a few months ago with her own “Savage.”

Before “WAP” came along, Cardi B’s highest-charting cut on the tally was her remix of Bruno Mars’ “Finesse,” which once lifted to No. 5. Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” pushed to No. 3 in the country.

“WAP” is reportedly the first-ever No. 1 hit in the U.K. by two female rappers. The track sees women working primarily in hip-hop return to the summit for the first time in years, as it remains a fairly rare occurrence in the territory.
