Christian Pulisic, Sergio Reguilon, Rhian Brewster Lead Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 5 Sleepers

Gameweek 4 before the international break saw Manchester United give up six goals and Liverpool allow seven, but our fantasy premier league picks wisely avoided both those teams on defense and will do so again this week.

Our XI got clean sheets from Wolves’ Rui Patricio, Conor Coady and Daniel Podence and an assist from Brighton’s Leandro Trossard but not much else. We roll with a 3-5-2 this week looking to do better.

Goalkeeper

Eduoard Mendy, Chelsea, £5.0M

Frank Lampard has finally done away with Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Mendy got the start and the clean sheet in the 4-0 home win over Crystal Palace on Oct. 3. Though he’s yellow flagged on the FPL site, he has a 75% chance of playing in a favorable matchup against Southampton. How is a Big 6 keeper only being selected by 1.7% of managers? Get in on this before everyone else does!

Defenders

Sergio Reguilon, Spurs, £5.5M

The 23-year-old Spaniard wasn’t brought over from Real Madrid for $33 million to sit on the bench, and Tottenham has an appealing set of upcoming fixtures that makes it worth the high cost. With its next four matches against West Ham, Burnley, Brighton and West Brom, Reguilon won’t be played by just 1.3% of FPL managers for long.

Chris Basham, Sheffield United, £4.9M

The Blades have been rather dull to start, scoring just once and allowing six over the first four matches. But Sheffield happens to be playing Fulham, which has only managed three tallies all season and all those came in the same game. If there’s a time for Basham and the backline to get back on track, it’s this game against a newly promoted side after a long break.

Charlie Taylor, Burnley, £4.5M

Burnley’s defense has no doubt been disappointing thus far, conceding eight goals in three games without a clean sheet. Each week I think this is going to be the week the Clarets turn it around. West Brom has scored just five times all season, three of those coming in one week against Chelsea. So let’s run it back and play a Burnley defender again and see what happens!

Midfielders

Harvey Barnes, £7.1M, Youri Tielemans, £6.4M, Leicester City

After Aston Villa’s shocking seven-goal effort against Liverpool two weeks back, FPL owners may be hesitant to bet against Villa’s players this week against Leicester. But the Foxes’ attack has been consistently excellent this season, tied for the league lead with 12 goals scored. I’m stacking this midfield duo and banking on quality output going into Sunday’s intriguing showdown.

Christian Pulisic, Chelsea, £8.3M

minutes thus far, Captain America is ready to take his rightful place leading the Blues’ attack. Only selected by 3.1% of FPL managers, Chelsea has a chance to build on its four-goal game output against Palace this week against Southampton.

Pedro Neto, Wolverhampton Wanderers, £5.5M

Neto has provided great value for his price thus far, chipping in with two clean sheets, an assist and a goal last week in a shutout of Fulham. Wolves’ opponent this week Leeds has scored nine times thus far this season, but the team is coming into form of late and should limit the newcomers despite being away from the Molineux this week.

Andros Townsend, £6.1M, Crystal Palace

No midfielder has more FPL points at his price point so far than Townsend, who’s selected by just 3.6% of managers and Palace has no fixtures against Big 6 clubs in their next seven match weeks. This is a long-term play worth considering.

Forwards

Rhian Brewster, £4.5M, Sheffield United

After paying $28.6 million to bring him in from Liverpool, the 20-year-old megaprospect should get the opportunity to boost Sheffield’s offense, which has scored just once this season. For that price with that potential, what do the Blades, and FPL managers, have to lose?

Chris Wood, £6.4M, Burnley

Wood has been very quiet since he scored in the team’s opener in gameweek 2, but should have ample opportunity to change that away against a West Brom team that’s conceded a league-high 13 tallies this season.
