Destination Isolation: This Company’s COVID-19 Retreats Offer Quarantining In Style

Working remotely, homeschooling, and social isolation may be the new norm for most Americans—but who says it has to occur at home? Thanks to a unique pivot from short-term rental platform D.Alexander, now it doesn’t.

With its new “Destination Isolation” campaign, D.Alexander has shifted its short-term rental properties into veritable COVID-19 retreats—idyllic spots where families can self-isolate in style.

According to a company spokesperson, they’re “safe, clean escapes to heal, rejuvenate, be productive and continue to keep living mindfully.”

Rentals are located along beaches, in the deserts and among the mountains, offering perks like wine packages, wall-mounted arcades, board games and more. 

The properties also come with high-speed Wi-Fi to ensure full work-from-home capabilities for those who need it.

Leslie Godwin and her family are currently staying at a D.Alexander property on Florida’s Emerald Coast for the next month. They initially rented the house for spring break, but when social distancing orders started to go into effect, they decided to stay put.

“The decision was this: Go back home to Arkansas where we would quarantine ourselves and work remotely, do virtual school, with nothing open … or we could choose quarantine in Florida where the sun is shining,” she said. “Let’s put it this way: The family vote to stay was an easy one and was unanimous.” 

Godwin is still able to work from home, and her kids are taking full advantage of the hot tub, pool and golf cart. She says her family is “happy, not bored and staying active.”

D.Alexander’s rentals are offered in one-, two- and three-month packages, which range in price from $18,000 to $46,000. Properties are currently available in Florida, Arizona and Tennessee.
