Dos Equis Beer Promotes Social Distance With Free Six Foot Long Cooler

As states being to relax their social distancing guidelines, with varied results, one popular beer brand has found a novel way to keep everyone safely separated. Last Friday Dos Equis unveiled its own branded ‘Seis-Foot Cooler.’ And they’re giving it out for free to a few lucky drinkers.

In order to get your hands on one, you’ll have to buy any amount of the Mexican Lager (or Pale Ale) and submit a photo of the receipt here. This is, of course, the same company that brought you ‘The Most Interesting Man In The World’ — one of the more successful ad campaigns of the last decade. With its social distance themed swag, they’ll be high in the running for ‘most interesting promotional gear in the world’.

The brand is already one of Mexico’s biggest exports, brewed at the massive Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma in Monterrey, Mexico. Founded in 1890, the facility also produces other big name beers including Tecate, Bohemia, and Sol. Favored for their crisp and refreshing characteristics, these labels are on heavy rotation as the weather warms. In 2010, the operation became a subsidiary of Heineken International. With over $25 billion in annual sales, it is the second largest beer company on the planet.

As fun as this latest gag is, it’s also a bit cumbersome. Especially considering that it lacks wheels. The cooler comes with an adjustable handle bar running its length. It has two small compartments for beers on opposite ends, separated by a bunch of unusable space in the middle. When you’re not using it with friends it ultimately does make for an adequate—albeit loudly-colored—bench. And it’s sure to make a splash at any socially distant gatherings you might be attending this summer. The term ‘drink responsibly’ has certainly taken on added meaning in the COVID-19 era.
