Everything In The Chapter 2, Season 3 ‘Fortnite’ Battle Pass

Fortnite’s map has flooded. Chapter 2, Season 3 kicked off Wednesday morning with a watery bang. What was once an island is now plural—a flotilla of islands rather than just one. The lower elevations have all been submerged, and what we’re left with is something else entirely.

Season 3’s ‘Splash Down’ theme is distinctly summer-themed. Instead of spies we now have ‘Drifters’ and instead of Deadpool we now have Aquaman. For those Fortnite fans who also love Jason Momoa (aka Aquaman aka Khal Drogo), this season of Fortnite is for you.

As always, the new season comes with a new Battle Pass filled with cosmetic goodies that you can purchase for roughly $10—or the premium Battle Pass for 2800 V-Bucks. Here’s everything you get in the Season 3 Battle Pass—but first, the trailer, narrated by Rhys Darby of Jumanji fame:

As you can see, Season 3 marks a pretty significant change from Season 2. Not only is the map flooded, players will have a much wider variety of vehicles to zoom around in, from trucks and cars to loot sharks.

This seasons, instead of a spy-base / HQ the season’s “hub” is the Fortilla, which is also a new location on the map. Here you can check out challenges and customize—for the first time ever—an Umbrella glider, making it uniquely your own (much like we were able to customize the Maya skin in Season 2).

As always, there will be a new batch of challenges each week. And like the Deadpool challenges in Season 2, this season introduces Aquaman challenges on top of Daily and Weekly challenges.

So far, I’m a fan of the Waterworld / damp Mad Max theme Epic is going for with Season 3, though I’ll reserve judgement for a few weeks to see how the developer handles updates and changes, including new modes and weapons/items. It’s cool that we have a couple new weapons in the Charge Shotgun and Firefly Jar molotov cocktail, but it remains to be seen whether or not Epic continues to change things up and add new items and weapons with the same kind of frequency they used to—and have failed to do in Chapter 2.

I’m also not entirely sold on a more aquatic themed season. I loved the spy stuff in Season 2 and I’m glad that it appears some of that will remain intact in Season 3, including Henchman and bosses. There are also new AI called Mauraders to combat, though it’s too early to say exactly how these new enemies will impact gameplay.
