IndiGo to charge Rs 100 from flyers checking-in at airport counters from today – Times of India

NEW DELHI: IndiGo passengers checking-in at airport counters will now have to pay Rs 100 as convenience fee. The airline has become to first Indian carrier to introduce such a fee in a bid to get more passengers to do web check-in for a contactless travel experience in these pandemic times.
With India’s biggest airline (in terms of domestic market share) levying this fee, it is just a matter of time before most other carriers here also do the same.
“IndiGo has introduced a service fee of Rs 100 for check-in at the airport counters from October 17, 2020. We encourage all passengers to web check-in as per government directive, using our website or mobile app. The check-in fee at the airport counters is applicable on all bookings made, starting October 17, 2020. We are committed to take all precautionary measures for a contactless and hassle-free travel experience for our customers,” IndiGo said in a statement.
