One Of BTS’s Greatest Accomplishments This Year Has Been Topped By Justin Bieber And Ariana Grande

Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s new single “Stuck With U” raced 6ix9ine’s comeback track “GOOBA” throughout the past tracking frame, with both hoping to claim the Hot 100’s throne. In the end, the pair of pop stars debuted their first joint effort atop the list, while the rapper was forced to settle for third place.

Helping “Stuck With U” start its time on the Hot 100 at No. 1 is an extremely healthy sale sum, and thanks to the impressive first-frame purchase count, the pop icons have proven their immense popularity and power, besting a high point established by another one of the most beloved musical acts in the world.

“Stuck With U” sold 108,000 copies in its first seven days of availability, a number rarely seen these days. In fact, that figure is the largest one-week count of 2020 for a single. Grande and Bieber beat back BTS, who held the title of the greatest single-frame sales count for a new tune of the year until his frame.

When BTS dropped their new single “On” earlier this year, fans rushed not only to hear what the band had come up with this time around, but to show their support by purchasing the cut. “On,” which benefited from two versions being available to buy (a solo release from the septet and one that also featured pop singer-songwriter Sia), quickly outpaced every other title that week, selling 86,000 copies.

Since it managed that chart-topping feat, no other cut has come close to matching BTS’s performance, though many hit singles have tried. Just weeks before the seven-member vocal group proved how loyal their fans are, Bieber’s own “Yummy” started with 71,000 copies purchased (at the time the biggest sales count of 2020), and in the past few frames, both Travis Scot and Kid Cudi’s “The Scotts” and Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj’s “Say So” rose to the peak position on the Digital Song Sales chart (and the Hot 100) with over 60,000 copies sold in a single week.

Unless something major comes along (such as a new cut from Adele, Taylor Swift, or possibly the upcoming Lady Gaga/Grande collaboration “Rain on Me”), Bieber and his duet partner may end 2020 with the largest one-week sales count for a song. Thankfully, a portion of the proceeds brought in from “Stuck With U” go toward helping those who have been negatively impacted by the coronavirus outbreak, so BTS fans can take some comfort in knowing that their favorites have been beaten by a charity effort.
