Robert Pattinson Shot His Own ‘GQ’ Cover In Quarantine

TOPLINE

Robert Pattinson, the latest actor to take on the role of Batman, shot his own GQ cover for next month’s issue while isolating in London as the U.K. remains the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in Europe.

KEY FACTS

For the June issue of GQ, the Twilight star sat down for FaceTime interviews with writer Zach Baron and shot pictures of himself.

Pattinson is spending quarantine in an apartment in London provided by the producers of The Batman, where he’s been since production on the newest version of the iconic story was suspended in March with the film reportedly 25% complete.

The actor appears to have used a timer for some shots and also took classic mirror selfies, one of which was used for the cover.

Pattinson’s interview has been called bizarre by some readers, as he outlines his idea to launch a handheld, microwavable pasta product.

Perhaps more repeatably, Pattinson admitted he’s largely given up on fitness during quarantine, despite pleas to stay in shape by a personal trainer hired by his film studio.

KEY BACKGROUND

London, where Pattinson is holed up, is reportedly the hardest-hit English city, accounting for 22% of confirmed coronavirus deaths in England and Wales as of May 1, despite making up only 15% of the total population. The U.K. as a whole counted upwards of 38,000 confirmed deaths in early May, the worst in Europe.

SURPRISING FACT

Not all photoshoots are being replaced by selfies—the fashion industry has been carrying out FaceTime photoshoots, where a model does their own hair and makeup but coordinates poses and wardrobe with a photographer and stylist virtually. Supermodel Bella Hadid posed for Vogue Italia’s April issue from isolation.
