The Best PS4 Exclusive Ever Made Could Be Coming To PS5 And PC

Rumors of a Bloodborne PC port have been long in the making, but something has changed recently. These rumors have begun to take shape and gain momentum. Now, not only will Bloodborne make its way to PC, it will also come to the PlayStation 5.

Indeed, I have heard independently from a reliable source that a Bloodborne PC and PS5 port is in the works and that it’s being developed by Austin, TX-based Bluepoint Games.

Bluepoint makes sense. The studio’s most recent game was the Shadow of the Colossus remake on PS4. Previously, they’ve worked on ports or remasters of games like Gravity Rush Remastered, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

In other words, Bluepoint is an expert studio when it comes to remastering past classics. They would be my first choice to bring Bloodborne to PS5 and PC as well.

Why It Matters

Beyond the obvious reason—PC players who don’t own a PS4 will now get to play the game at long last—the reason I’m most excited about a Bloodborne PC and/or next-gen port is the frame-rate boost and faster loading times.

Yes, I do consider Bloodborne to be the best PlayStation 4 exclusive ever made, and perhaps the best PS4 game period, but it suffered from both abysmally long loading times and a shoddy 30 fps when games like this really need to play at 60 (at a bare minimum).

As much as I do love my PS4 Pro, it simply cannot compete with my gaming PC. And the PS5 sounds like a beast, especially when it comes to game load times, thanks to its revolutionary SSD storage. On both PC and PS5, Bloodborne will easily hit 60 fps and loading times should be much, much faster. While gaming PCs don’t currently have SSD drives that are as fast as the PS5’s allegedly will be, any SSD will beat the PS4’s load times to a bloody pulp.

In any case, while I always suggest taking these rumors with a grain of salt, this one feels a great deal more reliable than most. I suspect we will get a glimpse of the game later this week, during Sony’s big PS5 reveal event.

Perhaps we will also get a look at FromSoftware’s upcoming game Elden Ring, which we’ve heard about but seen virtually nothing of at this point in time.

P.S. While a Bloodborne remaster/port is all well and good, it is still not my first choice for a FromSoftware re-release. That honor goes to Demon’s Souls, the first in the “SoulsBorne” series and one of my favorite games of all time. Perhaps someday we’ll get a remaster or a PC port, or even a sequel.
