Trump’s Personal Valet Tests Positive For Coronavirus

“We were recently notified by the White House Medical Unit that a member of the United States military, who works on the White House campus, has tested positive for coronavirus,” Deputy White House Press Secretary Hogan Gidley told CNN.

Gidley added, “The President and the Vice President have since tested negative for the virus, and they remain in great health.”

The valet has not been identified, and it’s unclear what his precise role is, but valets can serve in a variety of functions in the White House, including catering, wardrobe and other personal assistant duties to the president.

Past valets have been described as “the closest man to the President of the United States,” according to the White House Historical Society.

The development comes just a day after an event honoring nurses in the Oval Office, in which Trump and the nurses did not wear masks or practice social distancing.

Trump also faced criticism on Tuesday for not wearing a mask during a visit to a Honeywell facility that manufactures N95 equipment, despite a sign in the factory stating that masks are “required.”
