UFC 252 Full Fight Video: Watch Stipe Miocic Knock Out Daniel Cormier In Rematch

In July 2018, UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic was matched against UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 226.

The odds on fight night favored the defending heavyweight champion. Miocic came in as a -235 favorite over Cormier, who was the +185 underdog.

Cormier won that fight by first-round knockout. With that victory he became a two-division UFC champion. In defeat, Miocic’s UFC record of three straight UFC heavyweight title defenses ended.

The two fighters met in a rematch in the main event of UFC 241. Cormier was the -145 favorite in the rematch. The former champ was a +115 underdog.

Cormier’s confidence in the rematch was surging. He walked toward Miocic for the first three rounds with his hands at his waist. He showed no respect for the striking of the former champ. Meanwhile, Miocic struggled to find his groove.

Something happened in the moments between the end of the third round and the beginning of the fourth stanza. In that one-minute period a lightbulb went off in Miocic’s head. When the fourth round began, he adjusted his striking attack and went heavily to Cormier’s body.

Each punch that Miocic threw to the body of his opponent landed heavily and visibly hurt Cormier, who did not try to defend the strikes.

With 60 seconds left in the round, the body blows seemed to take their toll as Miocic went from the body to the head and staggered Cormier to the fence. Once Cormier’s back hit the fence, Miocic teed off with head strikes. The blows left Cormier sliding to the seat of his pants and forced referee Herb Dean to wave off the fight.

With the victory, Miocic reclaimed the UFC heavyweight title.

Neither Miocic nor Cormier has stepped into the octagon since that scrap. That changes tonight when the two meet for the third time in the main event of the UFC 252 pay-per-view card, which streams on ESPN+.

Cormier plans to retire after tonight’s fight card.
