WWE NXT featured a main event match for the NXT Women’s Championship between Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai. The broadcast also saw a blindfold match between Deter Lumis and Cameron Grimes, follow-up from Leon Ruff’s stunning upset last week, in addition to tag team action as Toni Storm and Ember Moon faced Raquel Gonzalez and Ember Moon.

WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite were both down against coverage of the 2020 Presidential Election. WWE NXT’s viewership was 610,000 against 717,000 for AEW Dynamite.

Dexter Lumis def. Cameron Grimes—Blindfold Match

Cameron Grimes is quickly trending toward Heath Slater territory as a very talented worker who is too good at comedy for his own good.

I’d be perfectly fine if this was the blowoff match between these two so both can move on to bigger and better things.

Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell def. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter

The vast majority of talent in this match barely reached the top rope and it was jarring to watch.

After a series of big losses, this Indi Hartwell alliance feels like the beginning of a potential win-streak for Candice LeRae.

KUSHIDA def. Arturo Ruas

As well as KUSHIDA is doing right now, I see so much more potential in Arturo Ruas.

WWE protected Ruas in defeat better than they do 90% of the top stars who have lost in 2020.

Toni Storm and Ember Moon vs. Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez

Ember Moon kicked Raquel Gonzalez in the face almost as hard as she kicked Xia Li’s representative Boa last week.

Dakota Kai taking a pinfall or submission loss is about the only finish this match should produce.

When all is said and done tonight, this match might end up going longer than the main event.

Timothy Thatcher def. August Gray

This feud has Taz-Maven vibes to it. If this was a multi-week program where Timothy Thatcher beat the hell out of Austin Gray before finally being upset, both would be bigger stars by the end of it.

Leon Ruff, Johnny Gargano and Damian Priest Face Off

Lon Ruff might be closer to the 1-2-3- Kidd than Colin Cassidy, which bodes well for its future.

This angle started as a joke, but if WWE is serious, Leon Ruff can become a real player out of all this. Time will tell.

Io Shirai def. Rhea Ripley—WWE NXT Women’s Championship

Rhea Ripley’s losing ways in 2020 has been one of the strangest storylines of an even stranger year, but that didn’t stop her from having another awesome match.

This felt like it may have been Rhea Ripley’s sendoff, especially considering the curtain call at the end.

Finn Balor and The Undisputed Era Brawls with Pat McAfee, Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan and Danny Birch

Pat McAfee cut another good heel promo but appeared to need help remembering Bobby Fish’s name when listing all the members of the Undisputed Era.

I can only imagine the insane bumps Pat McAfee might take should he wrestle in a War Games match.
