WWE Raw Results: Winners, News And Notes From June 15, 2020

WWE Raw featured the surprising return of Christian, in the payoff to a developing story throughout the day after @WrestleVotes teased an “unexpected event.” The report was later confirmed by Alex McCarty of talkSPORT.

Christian faced Randy Orton in an unsanctioned match in the Raw main event, but unfortunately a Ric Flair heel turn prevented the match from properly happening. Orton punted Christian following a low-blow from Flair—who had tried to talk Christian out of this match throughout the night—for the quick win.

Last week’s broadcast of Raw garnered 1.737 million viewers, slightly up for the WWE Backlash go-home show.

Christian’s comeback in an “unsanctioned match” is as loosey-goosey as WWE’s wellness policy.

Christian should come back as Christian Cage, or better yet, a Conquistador, to get around being medically cleared.

Kevin Owens def. Angel Garza

Kevin Owens’ quick, clean victory over Angel Garza means everybody gets to be mediocre again.

Zelina Vega’s cosplay outfits are more entertaining than half of the wrestlers on this roster .

Bobby Lashley Asks Lana for a Divorce

I’m in awe that a 57-year-old Bruce Prichard and a 74-year-old Vince McMahon approved the term “thot” to be used on air.

MVP’s entertaining old-man tirade reminded me of my Uncle Frank.

Lashley and Lana Divorce Court could make for some passable trainwreck television.

The Viking Raiders and Street Profits def. The Ninjas; The Big Show’s Return

I need to see that giant ninja in squash matches every week of the pandemic.

I have a fleeting feeling that all these good vibes from the Viking Profits will eventually lead to a Viking Raiders monster heel turn. It’s the only way these two teams can be taken seriously in a wrestling match.

Seth Rollins Recruits Dominik

Rey Mysterio is such a great actor, he even seemed to raise Seth Rollins’ game.

Rey Mysterio speaks out on behalf of Dominik like he’s still that 7-year-old child whose custody was on the line.

Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but I see a lot of potential in the Natalya temper tantrum storyline.

I love how MVP meticulously explains why he specifically wants to be a guy’s manager. No hollow lines like “I’ll take you to the top,” he gives valuable advice based on their situation, and charges commission if they want to know more. Like a real manager. Apollo Crews really should reconsider his offer.

I was so happy to see Apollo Crews cheat to win. That means he’s one step closer to turning heel and being aligned with MVP, where he’ll maximize his potential.

Drew McIntyre and R-Truth def. Bobby Lashley and MVP—WWE Championship

WWE undid months-worth of making Drew McIntyre into a bullet-proof babyface by booking him to get outsmarted by the air-headed 24/7 champion, who swindled him into putting the most important title in the company on the line.

R-Truth’s gimmick is that he never knows what the fuck is going on. This is a man who showed up to a Money in the Bank match he wasn’t even in. Back in 2015! You trusted him to talk you out of this precarious situation?! Is there a babyface alive WWE can’t make into a damn fool?

I was just waiting for this dumb version of Drew McIntyre to fire R-Truth as his tag team partner and hire somebody he knows he can trust: The Big Show.

Amid all the tomfoolery that got him into this unnecessarily dangerous situation, Drew McIntyre still trusted R-Truth enough to tag him in and let him take the pin. I fully expected R-Truth to tell McIntyre: “My bad, dog, the stipulation says if I get a pinfall I get to be champion.” What a bad night for Drew.

Bayley and Sasha Banks Accept The IIconics’ Challenge

I was pleasantly surprised to see WWE promote NXT on Monday night Raw.

Just as Bayley and Sasha Banks are hitting their stride as a heel duo, WWE is going right back to the dissension well.

Asuka def. Nia Jax—WWE Raw Women’s Championship

We’re now at the point with Nia Jax where she’s calling back to her own injury spots, which is exactly what happened when Nia recreated her punch to Becky Lynch’s face.

John Cone made a quick count, but he was at least one second late getting in position, so it kind of evened out.

Randy Orton def. Christian—Unsanctioned Match

The closer we got to 8:00 p.m. without Christian wrestling, the more suspect this match seemed.

Damn Ric Flair.

Randy Orton is the best thing going in WWE. He should easily be the top choice to face Drew McIntyre.
