WWE Talent Tests Positive For COVID-19

A WWE developmental talent has tested positive for COVID-19, per a statement to media outlets by WWE Associate Medical Director Dr. Jeffrey Dugas.

The statement noted all talent, production crew and employees on site will be tested for COVID-19 while WWE will remain open despite the positive test.

“A developmental talent, who was last on site at WWE’s training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19,” read the statement.

“Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms. However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company’s performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately. Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule.”

WWE’s COVID-19 testing procedure has come into question amid reports that the promotion simply performs temperature checks at its TV tapings as opposed to AEW reportedly holding multiple tapings where everyone was tested.

WWE has been inching toward reopening, with many bullish reports about when WWE gets back to live events. WWE’s cause is further supported by the state of Florida’s own ambitions to reopen. The state has been racked with additional positive COVID-19 tests in the past few days.

Monday’s taping of WWE Raw featured a limited number of diehard fans in the audience, none of whom were tested for COVID-19 according to an onsite report.

Back in April, a WWE’s first reported positive test came when a non-wrestling employee tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The promotion proceeded with normal production.
