‘Yes Or Yes’: FC Barcelona Determined To Sign Juventus’ Pjanic Whatever The Terms

FC Barcelona are determined to sign Juventus star Miralem Pjanic whatever the terms, according to a report.

In a pre-transfer window landscape that has been severely altered by the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on revenues, the Bosnian midfielder entered the picture late on among lead stars such as Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan and PSG’s Neymar.

But the 30-year-old has now become a prime target for the Blaugrana, who shocked their Culer fanbase earlier this month by entertaining the prospect of sending their young Brazilian midfielder Arthur in the opposite direction to Turin.

Either star valued at $66mn, a part exchange deal, which president Josep Bartomeu has predicted will become the norm heading forward, could have been brokered without a single penny changing hands.

To put concerned minds at rest, however, Arthur has insisted that he is not interested in a switch to the Serie A, and instead wishes to make a name for himself at the Camp Nou alongside Frenkie de Jong in the center of the park.

On Sunday, reports from Catalonia over at sports daily newspaper SPORT detailed how an agreement between the two European giants not containing Arthur, but still involving Pjanic, had been reached.

According to Albert Masnou, FC Barcelona will part with just over $27mn plus star right back Nelson Semedo, then receive Pjanic and Mattia De Sciglio in return.

But this morning, over at rival publication Mundo Deportivo, Roger Torrelo writes that Barcelona are determined to land Pjanic whatever the cost – even if the likes of Semedo or Arthur do not wish to join the Old Lady.

Prepared to pay a stand alone fee for their man, Barca will finance Pjanic’s purchase through the sale of their players to other clubs if needs be, says Torrelo.

In an area of the pitch where it is already thought that the Catalans have an ‘overbooking’ of talent, it remains a matter of intrigue as to how coach Quique Setien would keep Arthur, plus La Masia graduates Riqui Puig and Carles Alena, happy upon Pjanic’s potential arrival.

Furthermore, there is also Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal, already irked by a lack of playing time, to consider, though the veteran pair could already be moved on prior to the 2020/2021 season.
