NFL Week 13 Picks: TV Schedule, Odds And Predictions Against The Spread

Week 13 is coming up soon, starting with a jam-packed Sunday slate instead of the standard Thursday Night Football game. The league opted to push the originally scheduled TNF matchup between the Ravens and Cowboys all the way back to Tuesday, giving Baltimore some time to rest and prepare after its Week 12 contest against the Steelers was heavily postponed, ultimately playing out on a Wednesday nearly a full week after the Thanksgiving slot it was first penciled in at. That shift impacted more than just the Week 13 opener, as it also moved Pittsburgh’s clash with Washington—initially scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday—to a Monday evening kickoff, setting the stage for a de facto doubleheader that day with the Bills and 49ers also slated to go head-to-head in the usual Monday Night Football timeslot that day.

While the scheduling has changed, the importance of these Week 13 matchups has not. With only a handful of weeks left before the 2021 NFL Playoffs begin, the contenders are starting to separate from the contenders. It is becoming clear that many squads are already out of the running and are already looking forward to the draft and next year, while others are seeking to keep pace in tight divisional and Wild Card races across both conferences. One of Sunday’s most impactful matchups in regards to the postseason picture occurs in the early afternoon when Cleveland takes on Tennessee, a game that involves a pair of 8-3 clubs angling for better seeding on the AFC portion of the 2021 NFL Playoff bracket. The Titans are currently in first place in the AFC South, but have the Colts breathing down their neck and can’t afford to give up ground, while the Browns still have a faint hope of catching the undefeated Steelers in the AFC North and will want to protect their status as the conference’s No. 5 seed with another “W” this weekend.

Andrew Siciliano posted clinching scenarios for the 2021 NFL Playoffs that are in play during Week 13:

The late afternoon timeslot also has a critical battle when the Eagles head to Lambeau Field to face the Packers. Green Bay appears to have a lock on the NFC North with an 8-3 record, but would have to play during Wild Card Weekend if the playoffs began today. The Pack can further their quest to snag a first-round bye and homefield advantage—they currently trail the 9-2 Saints and 8-3 Seahawks (based on strength of victory)—by beating the Eagles this weekend, a team that recently lost control of the NFC East after losing a third consecutive time. Philly isn’t out of the postseason running by any means either, given the 3-7-1 squad is only narrowly trailing a pair of 4-7 foes in Washington and the divisional-leading New York Giants.

Week 13’s four primetime games are all intriguing, starting on Sunday Night Football when the Broncos square off with the Chiefs. The Broncos had a rough go of things last week when they were forced to start practice squad wide receiver Kendall Hinton under center in what resulted in an ugly 31-3 loss to the Saints, but returned three quarterbacks from the reserve/COVID-19 list—including starter Drew Lock—in time for this game. Denver is no longer realistically in contention for a Wild Card spot after falling to 4-7, but could play spoiler to a bitter AFC West rival that is currently the No. 2 seed in the AFC with a 10-1 record. It will not be easy, as Kansas City has beaten this foe 10 consecutive times heading into Week 13—including a 43-16 drubbing earlier in the 2020 NFL season—and is favored to continue that streak as a two-touchdown favorite in Week 13.

Monday’s Week 13 action begins at 5 p.m. ET with the rescheduled Washington at Pittsburgh contest. Despite their vastly different records, the outcome could have major 2021 NFL Playoff ramifications for both sides. As mentioned, the Football Team is currently on the outside looking in at the postseason despite owning the same record as the NFC East-leading Giants. Because the Football Team lost both head-to-head matchups with Big Blue this year, they will need to finish the campaign with a better record than the G-Men—and the other NFC East programs—to earn the right to host a Wild Card round game. The Steelers may be the league’s only unbeaten team at this juncture, but the one-loss Chiefs are well within striking distance to usurp homefield advantage if Pittsburgh stumbles down the stretch. Oddsmakers don’t believe Week 13 will be the week in which the Steelers will falter, however, putting them on the board as a seven-point favorite, even with much less time to rest and prepare than their upcoming opponent. The Bills at 49ers’ Monday Night Football clash has several postseason implications in play as well, with each side having work left to do to secure a spot in the NFL Playoff bracket. Buffalo currently leads the AFC East with an 8-3 record, but is only narrowly ahead of the 7-4 Miami Dolphins in a division that has become uncharacteristically competitive in the post-Tom Brady Patriots era. San Francisco is still trying to shake off the hangover of losing a Super Bowl, but they aren’t out of the running just yet despite owning a mediocre 5-6 record. The Niners could still contend for a playoff berth with a primetime “W” this week, which would keep them alive in a wide-open NFC Wild Card race that appears it will come right down to the wire.

Dallas and Baltimore wrap up Week 13 with a rescheduled Thursday Night Football bout that will now take place on Tuesday with an 8:05 p.m. ET kickoff time. The Ravens are fighting to keep their postseason hopes alive after dropping a game to the Steelers on Wednesday. Baltimore, now just 6-5 after going 14-2 in last year’s regular season, gets a chance to secure an easy victory against a Cowboys foe that hasn’t had much go right during the 2020 NFL season. Dallas is coming off a brutal 41-16 blowout loss to Washington and are well out of contention due to a poor 3-8 record heading into Week 13. The Cowboys have been installed as 7.5-point underdogs in a game many of their fans might actually be hoping they lose, as an “L” assists in securing better position in the 2021 NFL Draft and could help the franchise turn things around next year.

With all these scheduling changes and evolving postseason scenarios to keep track of, it can be easy to miss value on the board when betting games and picking winners against the spread. Week 13 Betting Trends And Picks

Bengals at Dolphins

The Dolphins have gone 8-2 ATS over their last 10 home games. They were on a five-game SU and ATS winning streak before dropping a game to Denver in Week 11, but got back on track with a win and cover against the Jets last week. The Bengals, Miami’s upcoming opponent, are 0-3 SU and 1-2 ATS over their past three games and are double-digit road underdogs in Week 13.

Pro Pick: Dolphins -10.5

Browns at Titans

The Browns are an NFL-worst 3-10 ATS on the road since the start of the 2019 campaign, but they have covered in three of their last four matchups with Tennessee. It is worth noting Cleveland only outright won one of those contests and that game was at home. The Titans are riding a 2-0 SU and ATS win streak into Week 13 and are 5.5-point chalk for this impending bout.

Saints at Falcons

The Saints have swept the Falcons seven times since head coach Sean Payton took over in 2006 and could make it an eighth with a win on Sunday. New Orleans picked up a SU and ATS win in their first meeting of the 2020 NFL season just two weeks ago, a 24-9 victory at home. The Saints are now laying three points on the road and looking for their third consecutive “W” and sixth in seven matchups with this bitter NFC South rival. New Orleans covered in every game they won over this opponent dating back to December 2017, a 5-1 ATS mark in that span.

Pro Pick: Saints -3

Lions at Bears

The Bears are 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS over their last five NFC North rivalry contests against the Lions. Detroit hasn’t won in this series since December 2017 and isn’t projected to reverse that trend in Week 13, opening as three-point ‘dogs for this visit to Soldier Field.

Giants at Seahawks

The Giants are surprisingly on top of the NFC East and have been one of the hottest teams in football to bet on this year after a slow start. They have outright won three in a row and covered in six of their last eight games leading up to Week 13 and now will try to retain control of the division in a showdown with the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle has been slumping after covering four straight games to start the 2020 NFL season, beating the number just once in its last four. The Seahawks are now tasked with covering a 10.5-point spread as heavy favorites over the G-Men on Sunday.

Pro Pick: Giants +10.5
